PERILS OF BEING A PHYSIQUE PHOTOGRAPHER. The picture on your left may be one of the first physique studies developed (officially at any rate) in a police station. As explained on page 7 of this book, like many photographers we find it difficult to locate outdoor settings away from prying eyes. One afternoon in September we were certain we had found such an area in rolling desolate hills.

However we were shooting our fifteenth picture when suddenly two squad cars swooped down on us (using a fire road) The police told us two women were willing to testify they saw the models standing nude, though it would have required a telescope t determine if they were seeing a boy or a jack rabbit. The models had been wearing posing straps at all times. On learning the pictures were completely legitimate and were being made for educational inspirational purposes, the sargeant felt inclined to dismiss the affair, but first required us to accompany them to police headquarters where the films were developed to make certain they contained no lewd material. In releasing us, the police reminded us we could consider ourselves fortunate inot to be arrested for "Disturbing the peace" (they didnt say whose) or 2. "Indecent Exposure". They pointed out they had recently gained a conviction against a man who had worn his jockey shorts to sun bathe in a public park.
